LOWE, David Edward – 79 of Nictaux South, Annapolis County passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the QE II Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born, August 29, 1936 in Bridgetown, NS, he was a son of the late Solomon and Mary Ellen (Durling) Lowe. All of his life, David had a great love for all animals, especially horses. Just this past winter he nursed his sick puppy back to health. He was involved in the Heart of the Valley Rodeo Riders, he was a 4-H leader for many years, a director for the Appaloosa Horse Club, a member of the Western Nova Scotia Draft Horse Association and a member of the pulling horse committee and a judge. David was a farrier and worked in the woods with horses. He enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting and attending horse pulls. David loved to spend time with family and friends and loved to talk and tell a good story. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Deanna Zwicker; daughters Ann Marie (Steve) Lowe, Velvet (Todd) Uhlman, Jennifer Lowe; sons Scott (Fern), Tim (Sara); grandchildren Ashley, Jason, Jamie, Luke, Jordon, Stephanie, Kevin, Samantha, Melissa, Tyler, Amanda and Devin; great grandchildren Thomas, Henry, Olivia, Brooke, Maggie and Landon; sister Shirley (Don) Bent. He was predeceased by a son Robert; brothers Buster, Eugene, Reggie and Allan; sisters Frances and Patsy. By request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Pulling Ring, Annapolis Valley Exhibition Grounds, with Rev. Eugene Foster officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Western Nova Scotia Draft Horse Association or the Heart & Stroke foundation of Nova Scotia.
