Obituary

Ludlow, David Lewis -78, of South Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Grand View Manor, Berwick. NS.  He was born in his grandparents' home on Longbridge Road, London, England, the eldest son of the late Lewis & Lillian (Kingaby) Ludlow.

David joined the RCAF in 1963 at the tender age of 17 and never looked back.  He began his career as a Comm Op at CFB Rockcliffe, moving to #4 Fighter Wing, Baden Soelingen , Germany in 1969 and then on to CFB Edmonton in 1972.   In 1974 he re-mustered to an Airborne Sensor Operator to fly on the Argus and Aurora.  In 1981 he was commissioned and served as an Air Traffic Controller until his retirement in 1988.

David's interests were many and varied and, although he mastered everything that caught his interest; photography, wine making, computers, rock hounding and DIY home improvements; he was very modest about his accomplishments.   An avid reader and a talented athlete, he also had a lifelong love of music, playing both the drums and the guitar.  Always the romantic, he cherished his family and loved animals- especially dogs and a very special rescued Raven named Dani.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years Tonya Aileen (Mason) South Greenwood, NS, daughter Amy Jean (Nevin) Surette, Kingston, ON; granddaughters Rori and Piper, Kingston, ON; brother Paul (Lynn) Ludlow, Calgary AB; nieces Jennifer, Amanda and Heather and nephew Jordan, Calgary, AB.

David is sadly missed and remembered in quiet reflection of the ordinary things i.e.  washing up the mounds of dishes together after a dinner party, late into the night, while happily discussing the evenings events; roaming the shores of the Bay of Fundy; digging yet another flower bed; and, driving down another dirt road just to see where it goes.

Cremation has taken place and there will not be any service in keeping with David's wishes.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers, volunteers and staff at Grand View Manor for their loving & tender care of David for the final 2 years and 9 months of his life. Donations in David's memory may be made to Grand View Manor, the Kings County SPCA, or a charity of your choice.
