SIMS, David Lindley - age 80, died peacefully Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Middleton, NS. Born in Montreal on August 18, 1936, he is survived by Susan Sims (nee Starr) and their four children Cyndi (Dennis Corbett); Shawna (Paul Johnston); Heather (Matt Saunders) and Michael (Jacque Kleigel); grandchildren Jotham, Maria, Alec, Stuart, Clare, Erik and Scott; sister Barbara (John MacEachern); sister-in-law Jane Sims (nee Riley); brothers Gerry (Dorothy), Richard (Suzanne) and Stephen. He graduated in Architecture from McGill University and after having articled in Halifax, established the Architectural firm of "Sims & Gavel" in Sydney, NS. The family is eternally grateful for the years of kind, attentive and loving care received from the staff at the Long Term Care Centre. Cremation has taken place under the care of the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902) 825-3448 where visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Monday, May 15, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 16 from St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Middleton with Father John MacPherson officiating and assisted by Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Recreation Fund.
