MacCOY, Donald David " Don" ~ Age 84, Wilmot, Annapolis Co., passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 3, 2019, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Iroquois Falls, Ont., he was a son of the late A. Hampton and Mary E. (Cole) MacCoy. Don had served in the Canadian Forces for 32 years. He was a devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, Kingston, where he was proud of his time serving as Service Officer and was devoted to assisting his fellow veterans. Don was a member and past master of Markland Lodge No. 99, A.F. & A.M., Kingston and had recently received his 50 year jewel. He was a member of Wilmot Baptist Church. Don graduated in 1991 from the Meat Cutting Program at Kingstec Community College in Kentville and following graduation never again put on a meat cutters apron. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife the former Frances Hallett-Gillis; daughter, Donna (Garfield) Lyons, Blomidon; granddaughters, Amanda (Josh) Nixon, Russell, Ont.; Elizabeth (Chris) Wilson, Berwick; great-grandsons, Wyatt Nixon, Sawyer and Hayden Wilson; step children, Robert, Kevin, Karen, Bernice, George, Patrick and Kenneth; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Joan Worthern; sister, Edith Hermiston; brothers, William and Harry MacCoy. There will be no visitation. Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service and Reception will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, in Royal Canadian Legion Branch No., 98, 1472 Veterans Lane, Kingston. Interment in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square, at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
