Obituary

PARKER, Donald Gordon "Donnie" ~ Age 88, of South Farmington, Annapolis Co., N.S., passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 30, 1936, in Middleton, he was a son of the late Gordon W. and Emma A. (Robb) Parker. Donnie spent his childhood years growing up in Torbrook and later moved to Middleton where he attended the Macdonald Consolidated School and Middleton Regional High School. During his time at Middleton Regional High School, Donnie was a great athlete and was active in multiple sports. He was well known for his speed and agility in various track and field events.  After retiring from a 35-year career in the Public Service, Donnie devoted much of his time to his appreciation for the outdoors.  He found his greatest joys in the stillness of the lake and the whisper of the woods at his beloved camp. An avid fisherman and dedicated hunter, Donnie taught generations the value of patience, respect for nature, and the thrill of the catch. His stories – part truth, part tale – will echo in our memories every time we cast a line or walk a forest trail. Surviving are daughter, Dawn (Peggy) Parker, Port George; sons, Jerry (Nancy) Parker, Nictaux; Sam (Sue) Parker, Union Corner; grandchildren, Nathan, Tyler, Darcey and Tiffany; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Linda F. Angers; son, Terry Parker; and sister, Barbara Hampshire. A private interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. A time in celebration of Donald's life will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 in Nictaux Fire Hall. Donations in his memory may be made to your favourite charity. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Annapolis Valley Home Care, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, and Valley Regional Hospital, for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Donnie.
