Obituary

FRASER, DONALD P. - It is with immense sadness that we the family of Donald (Don) Fraser announce his sudden and unexpected passing in his 75th year on July 15, 2014 in Greenwood NS. Born in Pictou County, NS on April 18, 1939, Don played baseball, basketball and hockey with distinction at every level as a young boy through to his completion of High School. This was shortly followed by Don's enrolment in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in 1959, the same year he was to meet his future wife, Madeline in a skating Rink in New Glasgow, NS. They were married on November 12, 1960 and moved to their first posting at CFB Uplands in Ottawa. Don and Madeline would subsequently enjoy postings to 4 Wing Baden-Soellingen, 12 Wing Shearwater and 14 Wing Greenwood. Finally, in 1994, after 33.5 years of honourable military service to Canada, Don retired from his last posting at 14 Wing Greenwood where he and Madeline transitioned to life as a happy retired couple. An avid and active athlete his entire life, in retirement, Don enjoyed early mornings playing golf with his buddies and afternoons spending time with Madeline and their three dogs. Most notably, he is survived by Madeline, his wife and loving partner of 54 years. Don is also survived by his oldest son Steve (wife Lisa and their sons Andrew and Bradley) and his youngest son Rick (wife Wendy and their daughter, Anna). Don was a strong, honourable and decent man who left an indelible and loving impression on those closest to him. His sons will miss his advice and unwavering support while Madeline will miss her much loved partner and constant companion. The family feels the tremendous loss of a husband, father, grandfather, mentor and teacher and each of our lives have been made better and more fulfilled by his having been a part of them. As was his wish, a small graveside ceremony will be held 2:00PM Sunday, July 20, 2014 in the North Kingston Cemetery, with Rev. Michael Mugford officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Kingston and District Fire Hall, 570 Sparky Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
