Obituary

McLAUGHLIN, Donald Morse "Donnie" ~ Age 71, of Meadowvale, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, in Soldier`s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. With broken hearts, the family announce the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Donnie.  Born in Middleton, he was the son of the late Thelma Brooks; and was loved and raised by his grandparents, the late Joseph and Alta McLaughlin of Bridgetown. Donnie had retired as a dispatcher from the Department of Transportation over 25 years of service. He loved children and worked with 4H helping children with their rabbits. Donnie raised show rabbits and showed them in the Maritimes and New England.  He loved all animals, but especially horses. Donnie had also been a member of the Deep Brook/Waldec Lions Club.  He met many life-long friends including, William Oickle, Dave Wright and Terry Leonard, and will be missed by many.  Donnie will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, the former Molly I. Chute; son, Donny (Shelley Wolokoff), Camrose, Alta.; daughter, Michelle McLaughlin, Meadowvale; five grandchildren whom he adored, Jasmine, Halifax; Quentin, Meadowvale, Molly, Halifax; Hunter and Chriselle, Camrose, AB; sisters, including special sister, Rita Lewis; Donna (Gorden) Hardwick, Alberta; and Debbie Halliday, Annapolis Co.;  brothers, David (Marcia) Brooks, Bear River; Laurie Brooks, Bridgetown; Brian (Ruth) Brooks, Nictaux; Doug Brooks, Annapolis Royal; special aunts, Alice, Middleton; Mona and Louise, both of Ontario; mother-in-law, Myrtle Chute, Victoria Vale. Besides his mother and grandparents, Donnie was predeceased by brother, Frank Brooks.  In keeping with Donnie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10588 Hwy 201, Meadowvale with President Larry Sproule officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church hall. Donations may be made to Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown.
