Obituary

April 6, 1950 ~ September 27, 2025

Donald Everett Smith ~ 75 of Inglisville, NS passed away peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton after a battle with cancer. His children were by his side. He was the only child of Allison and Marie (Gillis) Smith. A talented carpenter with a lifelong dedication to his craft. He began his career at an early age with Hamilton Construction. He was once a co-owner Valley Pine Craft and Furniture, worked for Bryan Bent Construction and for the last 13 years was a self-employed carpenter, working side by side with his son. In earlier years he also sold Coleman trailers and worked with the Spruce Budworm Program. His favourite place was his shop where he spent countless hours working, watching tv, relaxing or socializing with friends, usually with a Bud in hand. He loved small dogs, daily trips to Tim Horton's for C&G, GMC trucks and sweets, despite being diabetic. He enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it was moose hunting in Cape Brenton, 4 wheeling in NFLD, going to camp or a trip to Las Vegas with his daughter and son in law. He was known for having every tool imaginable and multiples of his favourites. Living on the mountain he found peace and happiness in the simplicity of good friends, who he was fortunate to have so many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survived by his daughter Jennifer (Kevin) Wallis, Lantz; son Donald Jay - DJ (Dawn Acker), Inglisville; grandsons Nicholas (Tyra), Inglisville and Dyson, Inglisville; Lewis his dog; former partner Pam Jones; her 4 daughters; her large extended family and his cousins, all of whom treated him wonderfully. Thanks to everyone who took the time for hospital visits and check-ins these last few months. He was predeceased by his parents. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held 2PM-4PM Saturday June 13, 2026 in Royal Canadian Legion, Lawrencetown Branch No. 112. All are welcome. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown.
