Whiteway, Donald Martin - age 78 of Middleton formerly of Shelburne, passed away, September 28, 2017 at Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Facility, Middleton. Born in Shelburne, he was a son of the late Eli and Mary (Acker) Whiteway. In Donald's early years he worked in the copper mines in Northern Manitoba. After returning home to Nova Scotia he worked at the Shelburne School for Boys for many years. Later he and his wife operated their own Nursery Business, "Don and Vera's Garden Centre". Donald was active in his community, being involved for many years with the Scouting Movement and the Shelburne Fire Department. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Donna Robillard (Dave Whalen), Dartmouth; sons, Martin (Valerie) Whiteway, Nictaux, Paul Whiteway (Donna Milner), Digby, grandchildren, Lawrence Atkinson, Amanda Richards, Joanne Whalen, Ryan Whalen, Adam Whiteway, Shawn MacFadyen, five great grandchildren, several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his first wife Betty, his second wife Vera and two brothers. By request cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448.
