It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Doreen Almeta (Sanford) Healy at the age of 91, formerly of Auburn, Kings Co., N.S., in Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Middleton, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Born on December 15, 1934, in Lower Sackville, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Avery A. and Lilla M. (Haynes) Sanford.

Doreen had a great passion for music, coming from a musical family, and always was the life of the party. She had a delicate sweet voice, and when melded with her sister Eveleen, they made the most beautiful harmony. They had performed everywhere, and as teenagers were asked to go to Acadia University to have their voices recorded. Doreen had been employed for many years at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and bird watching.

Surviving are her children, Wanda (David) Ogilvie, North Kingston;, Jimmy Healy and Arlene Healy, both of Auburn; grandchildren, Michelle Ogilvie, Auburn; Ted (Lisa) Ogilvie, Morden; Jamie (Trish) Ogilvie, Greenwood; great grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Kristina, Kyra and Amber; sister, Eveleen, Margaretsville; brother, Stafford Sanford (Kathleen Veinotte), Aylesford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Lilla, Edith, Marion, Margaret and Doris; brothers, Lloyd, Avery Jr. and Vernon.

There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place in North Kingston Cemetery, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses ~ Annapolis Valley Branch. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Heart of the Valley for their support and care shown to Doreen during her time there.
