COMEAU, Doris Evelyn ~ Age 91, of Gates Mountain, Annapolis Co., N.S., passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on May 25, 1935, in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Albert V. and Ada M. (Dodge) Perkins. Doris will be remembered for her sweet smile, freckles sense of humour and sassiness. She helped raise her younger siblings, raised eight children and over the years babysat for many families. Reading was one of her favourite pastimes as well as doing jigsaw puzzles. A few of her favourite things were Coronation Street, cups of tea and watching hummingbirds. Doris spent many hours in her little pantry making pies, bread and cookies. She was often seen wearing her apron. In her final years, Doris was lovingly cared for by her son, Perry, in the comfort of her own home. His siblings would like to express their endless gratitude to him for his love and attention towards her. She will be greatly missed by her children, family and friends, Teacup her cat and Smokey the Dog. Surviving are her sons, Robert Sharon), Bridgewater; Gary (Lisa), High River, Alberta; Brian (Cindy), Lower Sackville; Brian (Debbie Parker), Sarnia, Ontario; Perry, Gates Mountain; daughters, Darlene (Jeff) Prest, Margaretsville; Catherine Comeau (Jerry), Kenora, Ontario; Tamara (Ola) Ramberg, Sweden; Ruth (Jamie) Milligan, Halifax; grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Melanie, Cheryl, Melissa, Kasper, Freja, Jason, Joshua, Jill, Joel, Sheree, Brandy, Rachel, Megan, Ceilidh, Elliot and Jesse; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers, Richard (Marilyn) Perkins, Wolfville; Frank (Mary) Perkins, Middleton; Douglas (Carolyn) Perkins, Fredericton, N.B.; sisters, Audrey (the late Bud) Alward, Coldbrook; Elaine (Garnet) Hartt, Upper Sackville; Norma (Larry) Sproule, Middleton; sister-in-law, Selba Perkins, Kentville. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eugene M. Comeau; sisters, Betty Perkins and Barbara Bowser; brothers, Kenneth, Murray and Ronald Perkins. There will be no visitation. A service in Celebration of Doris’s life will be held in the summer of 2027 in Old Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton, with interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Twelve Baskets Food Bank or Alzheimer Society of N.S. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Valley Regional Hospital, Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Victorian Order of Nurses as well as the Home Care Workers. E.H.S.
