Holmes, Doris Marion "Mickey" (Templeton), 91 of Allains Creek went to be with her beloved husband Tom in heaven on January 2, 2013. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan to William and Marion Templeton, she was the second youngest of five children. She married Thomas Quinton Holmes at age 18 and they were together until his death in 2001. Tom and Doris made Nova Scotia their home for over 30 years where Doris loved to tend her garden and create beautiful needlecraft. She was very proud of her family and the fact that she had helped raise "three sets of kids, right up through their teens". She also loved new technology and was the first in her family to own a computer. Doris is survived by her sister, Nora Telford of Toronto; daughter, Pat of Allains Creek; son Tom (Pam) also of Allains Creek; and Greg (Brenda) of Kingston, NB. Her grandchildren, Tom, Kathleen, Donna, Kim, Kathy, Michael and Randy cherished her as a second mother. Gramma loved her great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Tyson, Alex, Meghan, Shaun, Kyle, Jack, Liam, Carter, Aiden, Evan, and Remington, and great-great grandson, Karson, and would speak of each one by name, recounting the latest email news from their families. Her wall, computer and USB drives were filled with their pictures. She was predeceased by husband, Thomas Quinton; sister, Kay; brother, Charles (Chuck); and brother, William (Bill). A private memorial service will be held at a later date and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
