DOROTHY ELAINE PRICE PASSES AWAY AT AGE 103

PRICE (Tabor), Dorothy Elaine - left this world peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Middleton at the age of 103. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. Dorothy was born on April 8th, 1917, in Springhill, the youngest of six children. She was born during the First World War, and in her early years lived through the Spanish Flu, the Roaring Twenties, the Depression and the Second World War. She married in 1942 to the love of her life, Ian Price, and raised a family of four children.  In the early 1950's they left Springhill for a fresh start in New Brunswick  and as a result of Ian's work subsequently moved to Annapolis Royal, Debert and Truro, Nova Scotia and eventually moved to the West Indies.  In 1971, they returned to Canada and settled in Middleton. Dorothy's husband, Ian, passed away suddenly in 1975 and she decided to make Middleton her permanent home. Her little Cape Cod house on the corner became the hub for the whole family. The door was always open and the tea pot was always on. Summers, especially, saw the house full of family and friends.  But she always magically put great dinners on the table and found room for everyone. And of course, no one will forget her love affair with lobster! Dorothy was known for her phenomenal memory, never forgot a birthday and could always be relied on to remember the who, what, where and when of the family history.  The family will forever cherish memories of those big meals, card games, storytelling and laughter. She loved her garden and could name every flower. She especially enjoyed her ride-on mower and was not happy when her failing eyesight caused her to turn in her keys in her early 90s. She was a faithful member of the congregation of St. John's United Church, Middleton.   In recent years, she also enjoyed her winter getaways to visit her daughter, Eileen and son-in-law, Richard, in Florida where she also had made many friends. She was a petite, stylish woman and would never dream of going out without makeup, lipstick, and jewelry (especially those silver bracelets) and kept a standing weekly hair appointment until just recently. Dorothy is survived by her children, Judith, Middleton; Eileen (Richard Weed), Hampton; Olwyn (Monte) Kendall, Calgary; and John (Gail), Guelph and grandchildren, Ian, Christopher, and Michael Weir, Peter Nieforth, Nicholas Blakeney, Jennifer Neeb and Drew Price; as well as 19 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. Dorothy centered her life around her family and many friends and always showed unconditional love, support and pride for her extended clan. She was a true matriarch and leaves to all her children and descendants a legacy of a life well lived. Her family especially wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Middleton for taking such good care of our mother and helping her through her last days. A graveside service took place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 17, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, with Rev. Karen Ralph officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.  Condolences and memories can be shared and an online guestbook signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
