Obituary

D'AUBIN,  Douglas David ~ age 83 of North Williamston, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the QEII, Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax, his parents were the late Ralph and Sarah Jane (Swinimer) D'Aubin.  Doug spent his working career as a short haul trucker and his golden years working on the farm with Dave. He had a very quick wit and enjoyed teasing others, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who referred to him affectionately as "Grampie D". In Doug's early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years, he enjoyed talking about his trip to Ireland and flights he had taken over the Valley.  Most days, Doug could be found in his favourite chair "monitoring the community" from his kitchen window. His home was open to family and visitors and you could always expect a warm welcome. In the winter months, you could expect a "very warm" welcome! He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Charlotte (Bob) White, Cole Harbour; Jane (Leon) Bezanson, Bridgetown; Christine Grant, Bridgetown; sons, Tim (Pam), New Albany; Ralph (Jennifer), Bridgetown; sister, Sylvia (Al) Gould, Elmsdale; grandchildren, Sarah (Lori), Jeffrey, Daniel, Douglas (Paige), Aaron, Katelyn (Tyler), Christie (Zach), Haley and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Adison, Dimitri, Riley, MaKenna and Bella; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his wife, Bertha; grandson, Micheal and his mother, Lila. In keeping with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm, Friday, September 13th,  2019 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
