LAIDLAW, Douglas Alexander – age 79, of Kingston NS passed away peacefully at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Born April 4, 1937 in Halifax, NS he was the son of the late Douglas and Doris (Bell) Laidlaw. Douglas joined the RCAF in August, 1955 in Edmonton, Alberta and served for 37 years retiring in April, 1992. He was stationed in Uplands, ON, Bagotville, QC, Baden, Germany, Portage la Prairie, MB, and finally settling in Kingston, NS to practice his golf skills and be a regular at the Kingston Legion. He was highly respected by those he worked with and loved by his family and friends. Douglas is survived by his sister Diane, Bath. ON, sons Don (Christine) Laidlaw, Kingston, NS, Ron (Sue) Laidlaw, Ottawa, ON and Steve (Nicole) Laidlaw, Victoria, BC; 10 grandchildren, Faye (Curtis), Ben, Cris, Samantha, Maxeen, Jadon, Isabel, Stephanie, Kadain, and Kody and 2 great grandchildren, Julia and Emma. Besides his parents, Douglas was predeceased by the love of his life, wife, Shirley Isabella (Snider) Laidlaw; sister, Marilyn Fuller and in-laws Stanley and Phyllis (Davidson) Toll. In keeping with Douglas' wishes, cremation has taken place. A Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 98 Tribute will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Kingston Legion, 1472 Veterans Lane with Chaplain Wade Seymour officiating.
