Obituary

MORRISON, Douglas Arthur – 83yrs, of Middleton, NS passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Smithfield, NS he was a son of the late Stanley "Irving" and Edna "Marian" (Hudson) Morrison. Doug retired after 35 years as a teacher having taught school in Middleton, Greenwood, Manitoba and Lawrencetown. He was a reservist and very involved with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets in Middleton and Greenwood retiring in December 1992 with the rank of Captain. Doug loved watching his family play their sports and enjoyed fishing, working in the woods and his morning walks. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years the former Alice Blair, Middleton; daughters, Judy Pearson and Debra Morrison, both of Grande Prairie, AB; sons, Grant (Kelly) Morrison, Victoria Vale; Mark Morrison, Dartmouth; brothers, Clary (Marilyn) Morrison, Loch Harbour, NS; Bert (Dorothy) Morrison, Glenelg, NS; Claude (Ruth) Morrison, Sackville, NB; sister-in-law, Marlene Morrison, Dorchester, NB; brother-in-law, Eric Hayne, Country Harbour; grandchildren, Kristi (Shawn) Arseneau, Edmonton, AB; Adam (Natalie) Pearson, Middleton; Graham Best, Fort St. John, BC; Ben Morrison and Caleb Morrison, both of Victoria Vale and great grandchildren Kiera, Cali, Lucas and Blake. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister Margie Hayne and sister Sharon, in infancy; brother Bill Morrison and paternal grandparents Sandy and Maggie Morrison. In keeping with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Dr. Tim Archibald officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Family flowers only please. Donations in Doug's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to say thank you to Dr. Paul MacLean for his exceptional care and support to Doug and our family over the years, especially during the past three weeks.
