Obituary

BANKS, Dwight Leslie - age 60, of Windsor, NS passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Vaughn and Virginia "Ginny" (Comeau) Banks. Dwight retired after 35 years from Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI) where he began his career trimming trees along the transmission lines and eventually retired as an Operations Manager. Dwight was very proud of his career and was very passionate about working for NSPI. He started farming with Grampie Banks in Torbrook Mines, moved to Prince Albert to continue farming and finished with over 100 head of cattle in Clarence. Dwight enjoyed showing his cattle at various Exhibitions and was involved with the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. After retirement, he began Dwight Banks Utility Consulting and worked for Emera Utility Services. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining, travelling, horseback riding and was a great storyteller. He is survived by his daughter, Meghan Banks, Calgary; his sisters, Mona (Mark) Pearl, Kentville; Janet (Thomas) Small, Aylesford; Darlene (Troy) Eisnor, Torbrook Mines; his brothers, Eric Banks, Torbrook Mines; Nelson (Nancy) Banks, Berwick and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Dwight's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, June 22, 2014 in the Torbrook United Baptist Church with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating assisted by Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau. Interment will be in the Torbrook Mines United Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Three Rivers Community Centre. Donations in Dwight's memory may be made to the Three Rivers Community Centre, Torbrook Mines United Cemetery or to the charity of your choice.
