MCDORMAND, Edgar David. As the sun was rising on October 25, 2011, a beautiful soul awoke in Heaven. Edgar David McDormand, Lower Sackville, formerly of Westport and Middleton, passed away peacefully in The Sagewood at age 98. Born in Westport, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Melbourne and Callie (Brooks) McDormand. He was a kind and gentle man who adored his family and a friend to all. Edgar will be greatly missed by his daughter Lindsay (Don) Cochrane, Grandchildren Karen Cochrane, Kathy (Steve) Copp, Scott Cochrane, Jeff Cochrane and great granddaughter Ella Copp. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (Hicks) in 2005 and also sister, Carol McDormand. Cremation has taken place. As per their wishes, there will be a joint memorial service celebrating the lives of Edgar and Mary on what would have been their 71st anniversary, Saturday, Oct. 29th at 11 a.m. in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, Rev. Victor McCullough officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Private family burial will be in Westport.
