Edith "Pauline"
Beals
January 10, 1939 – March 5, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. Edith "Pauline" Beals, 86, of Nictaux, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 5th, 2025, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton.
Born January 10th, 1939, in Essex, Massachusetts, USA, Pauline moved to Nova Scotia as a small child, where she eventually met the love of her life, married, and began their greatest accomplishment of creating a loving family of nine children.
Pauline's greatest passion in life was and always has been her family. She enjoyed getting together for large family potluck dinners and playing a spirited game of cards with all in attendance. She regularly spent afternoons picking away at jigsaw puzzles, the daily crossword puzzle, and often had a game show playing on the T.V. One of Pauline's prized possessions was that of her hand-made three-story Victorian-era dollhouse that she and her now late husband built from the ground up. The house was always proudly displayed in her home and was often decorated for the holidays.
She was truly a nurturing and caring motherly and grandmother figure to everyone she met. She cared for, prayed for, and truly loved each person she met. As soon as you walked through her door you felt like part of her family.
Pauline is survived by her brother, Alan (Lise) Bezanson, Ottawa, Ontario; sisters-in-law, Joyce Beals, Paradise; and Faye Beals, Bridgewater; brother-in-law, Frank (Betty) Beals, Liverpool; children, Kathy (William) Connell, Kentville; Alan (Julie) Beals, Margaretsville; Mark (Tara) Beals, Lunenburg; Peggy Jefferson, Nictaux; Cindy Graham, Brickton; Terry (Jane) Beals, Wilmot; and Trudy Llewellyn, New Albany; as well as 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline was predeceased by her parents, William and Edith (Haynes) Bezanson; loving husband of 65 years Roy Beals; brothers, Howard, William and James Bezanson; sons, Danny and Roy Jr.; and sons-in-law, Christopher Graham and Robert Llewellyn.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Pastor Elizabeth Amirault officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in her memory may be made to Twelve Baskets Food Bank, Nictaux.
