PENNY, Edith Beatrice – age 83 of Kingston, NS, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in North Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Bertha (McKenzie) Penny. Edith devoted her life to raising her family. She loved Christmas and enjoyed listening to Wilf Carter. Edith loved her family dearly, especially all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Terry (Mary) Penny, Windsor; Doug (Diane) Penny, Middleton; Roger Penny, Kingston; Sylvia (Alfred) Sproule, Kingston; Violet Milbury, Nictaux Falls; Keith Penny, Kingston; Garnet Penny, Wilmot; Sandra Penny, Nictaux; Rosalie (Doug) Sproule, Berwick; Sharon Armstrong, Kingston; sisters, Dolly Gebhardt, Medicine Hat, AB; Betty Hirtle, Kingston; 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Penny; daughters, Linda, Sherry; son, Robert; sisters, Margaret Eisner; Mary Richie; brothers, Lewis, Reginald, Carl, Irving and Lester. Visitation will be 7-9PM Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Funeral service will be held 3:00PM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Kingston United Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Dixon officiating. Private family interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery.
