COCKBURN, Edna Agnes - 90 of Kingston, NS formerly of Cobourg, ON passed away March 8, 2012 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. She was a daughter of the late Nathanael and Maude (Barnes) Vokey. Edna served with the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRENS) from 1943 -1946. In later years Edna moved from Halifax to Cobourg, Ontario where she graduated with Certified Nursing Assistant in 1960. Edna worked as a CNA at the Cobourg Hospital until retirement. In 2001 she moved back to Kingston, Nova Scotia to be close to her nephew Wayne Vokey (Sharon); her brother , Richard (Edna deceased 2007). Edna is survived by son, Edmund Cockburn, Cobourg, ON; brother, Richard and many nieces and nephews. She had many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews of whom she was very proud. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kingsley and brother, Frederick. At Edna's request, there will be no visitation or service. Burial at a later date in Cobourg, ON. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 and the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, Cobourg, ON. Donations in memory may be made to the Charity of one's choice.
