It is with great sadness that the family of Edna May Marina (Ross) Greenfield announce her passing on July 29, 2026, at the age of 91, at Valley Regional Hospital with her family by her side.

Edna was born in Head of St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia, on November 13, 1934, to the late James and Bertha Ross. Edna was a strong and independent person who led a very diverse life. Leaving home at 17, she moved to Ontario to make a new life for herself. She did many jobs but eventually went to work for Toilet Laundries, where she met the love of her life, Arley, or Art as he was known to most.

They were married in January 1963 and in December of 1963 were blessed with the birth of their daughter Phyllis. After several years living in Mississauga, the family made the decision to move to Nova Scotia, where they purchased the Hillcrest Neighbourhood Store in Greenwood, which they ran until Art's passing in 1984. She then went to work for the Metropolitan Store, a job that she loved and where she made many new friends.

Then in 1991, after the birth of her grandson Michael, when Phyllis and her husband Bob were posted to Comox, B.C., they asked Edna if she would like to come live with them, and Edna agreed. While in Comox, Edna welcomed her granddaughter Stephanie into the family. She was an devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an amazing cheerleader who loved going to Michael's soccer and baseball games as well as Stephanie's band concerts. Edna will also be fondly remembered for her love of bingo, Yahtzee, and card games. After moving back to Greenwood in 1996, Edna continued to live with her family until she moved to Tibbetts in 2024, where she lived until her passing.

Edna is survived by her daughter Phyllis (Robert) Trimm and two grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie. She was predeceased by her husband, Arley Phillip; brothers Melvin, James, Murray, George, Jack, and Roland; and sisters Alice, Ada, Jean, and Rita.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Valley Regional Hospital whose care and compassion made the last few days of Edna's life much more comfortable. They would also like to thank the staff of Tibbett’s Home for Special Care in Kingston. Edna loved her life at Tibbetts and spending time with her two besties, Sandra and Gwen. Known as the "Terrible Three", their friendship was filled with much laughter, friendly banter and playing cards every evening. We will forever appreciate the care, concern and warmth the staff showed Edna during her time there.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
