Edward "Carroll" Llewellyn

LLEWELLYN, Edward “Carroll” ~ of Rockland, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully in the Valley Hospice, Kentville, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, with his wife by his side, at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of the former Mabel Viola Arenburg, and together they shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. He married the love of his life, Mabel, at Apple Blossom time in the Annapolis Valley on June 2, 1962, and he often said that marrying Mabel was the best decision he ever made.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mabel; will be forever loved and missed by his daughters, Michelle Leanne (William) Coldwell of Wolfville, Nova Scotia; and Melanie Lynn (Scott) Kirk of Calgary, Alberta. He was the proud grandfather of Jasmine Alysha Harris, Jessie Amy-May Coldwell, Carter Evan Kirk, and Nicholas Alexander Kirk; and great-grandfather to Aurora River Harris; his brother, Reverend Dr. Hallet (Karen) Llewellyn of New Glasgow; sister-in-law. Rita Llewellyn; and many nieces and nephews.

For years, Carroll travelled around the Valley and beyond, sharing his gift of song. He was a member of an octet “the Waterville Eight”, and the quartet “The Valley Four and Me,” later known as “the Kings Ambassadors”, and a decades long-member of the United Church Choir.

Everyone who knew him knew he had a strong work ethic and liked to keep busy. A talented carpenter, he completed many building projects over the years including building the family home where he resided until his passing. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years with the Waterville, Canning and Kentville Volunteer Fire Departments. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather. He was kind, generous, and loved to tell jokes and play cribbage. His greatest legacy is a legacy of love that lives on in the memories of his family.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Norman (Sheila), Earl (Julia), Armand (Coleen) and Melbourne Llewellyn; and sisters, Phoebe (Aubrey) Burbidge and Sadie (Herbie) Barry.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, in Aylesford United Church, 2414 Highway 1. Rev. Webster Vhembo officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. Hallet Llewellyn, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be in the Berwick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation, whose amazing staff showed the most amazing kindness and love to the entire family during his final months. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, Middleton, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
