Obituary

Morse, Eldon Eugene – 88, of Tremont, passed away peacefully Monday, February 14, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born in Tremont, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Ward) Morse. Eldon was educated at the Halifax School for the Deaf from the age of five. At 17, he went to work at McMaster's Mill and for the last 20 years before he retired, he worked in the planer shed. Eldon was a hard worker and could be seen doing many jobs around the Mill throughout his years there. Eldon was a faithful member at the Tremont United Baptist Church; he was also their groundskeeper. Later joining the Amazing Grace Baptist Church, Eldon was welcomed with the addition of a sign language interpreter. In addition to his love of farming and his cattle, Eldon was a die-hard Montreal Canadians fan. Eldon enjoyed camping in the tent trailer with Beverly in his younger years. He could often be seen apple picking in Morristown, bowling with his deaf community, and he was known to dance in spite of being deaf. Above all else, Eldon was known for his smile, his positive energy, and his incredible work ethic. Surviving are his son Allan (Stephanie Doyle) Morse, Ottawa; daughter Sara Morse (Joe Bezanson), Tremont; sisters Audrey (Arthur) Uhlman, Torbrook Mines; Sylvia (Cyril) Stevenson, Nictaux; brother Leslie (June) Morse, Tremont; grandsons Devin Lutz, Dillon Lutz, Jeremy Morse, and Ethan Morse; great grandson Desmond Lutz. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Beverly Barkhouse; brothers Kenneth, Ronald, and Aubrey in infancy. Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 24, 2022 in Middleton Funeral Home, Pastor Brandon Lake officiating.
