BAILEY, Eleanor Christian ~ age 97 of Westport, NS passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024 in Villa Acadienne, Meteghan surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Westport, she was a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Hudson) Morrell. Eleanor was a long-time member of the Westport Baptist Church, and was the church pianist for many years, she was also a member of the Seniors Group. She lived her whole life in Westport taking care of her family and their home. In her younger years she worked on the family farm. She loved her gardens, there were never too many flowers. Eleanor was an avid quilter, enjoyed playing cards, and loved a good game of cribbage. She was a very social person and enjoyed the company of many dear friends. She took great pride in knitting hats and mittens for the IWK for many years. Eleanor became a Silver Cross Mother when she lost her son Gerry (Gerald) in Bosnia in 2000. She loved her family deeply and was so proud to be a grandmother. Eleanor will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her kindness and humour made her one exceptional lady. She is survived by her son, Gregory Bailey, Westport; sister, Isabel Facette, Welland, ON; granddaughters Catrina (Brad) Runtz, Arnprior, ON; Monica Bailey, Cambridge; great grandchildren Ava, Megan, Hailey and Bryson. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Albert, son Gerald, and brother Hubert. In keeping with Eleanor's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Westport Baptist Church Vestry with Rev. Rick Warner officiating. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Villa for the care they provided her over the last couple of years.  A reception will follow the service in Westport Community Hall.
