Duncan
August 4, 1921 – June 29, 2024
The family of Eleanor (Bent, Grant) Duncan would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for all the support and condolences from friends due to our recent loss.
DUNCAN, Eleanor Mary – 102, of Bridgetown passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born on August 4, 1921 in Belleisle, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late John D. "Jack" and Mary (Young) Bent. Eleanor grew up in Belleisle and after completing Grade 11, she went to Secretarial College in Saint John, NB. After completing her course, she was employed for several years at GE Barbour Co. Ltd. in Saint John. During this time, she met her future husband, Ron Grant, and they were married in 1945 in St. Mary's Church in Belleisle, NS. Following the wedding, they returned to New Brunswick where she lived for 35 years. She was always active in her church and community and became a mother to two daughters. She also made many friends over the years and many good times were had. Sadly, Ron died in 1967 at a young age, so following his death, she went to work for Avis-Rent-A-Car at the Saint John airport. Working there for several years, she later met her second husband, Earl Duncan. Following the death of her father, they returned to NS to care for her mother and following her death, they stayed on in the family home in Belleisle for twenty plus more years, renewing old friendships and making many new ones. Many family parties were enjoyed there. She was also fortunate to spend many winters in Florida where she became as artist. Following the death of her second husband, she moved into the Mountain Lea complex, first Crosskill Court and then into the main lodge. She spent several years there and enjoyed good times with all the staff as well as family. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy and Valerie; one sister Connie (Darrell) Hannam; two grandchildren, Brian and Amy Stockdale; one great grandson, Avery Workman; as well as several nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Maurice and Allan, and her niece Kim. There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 in St. Mary's Church in Belleisle with Rev. Dawn Lea Greer officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. No reception will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Mary's Cemetery Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
