SMITH (Reardon), Elizabeth Marie "Betty" - age 60, of Kentville and formerly of Halifax passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on Thursday, January 29, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Charles Reardon and the late Marie (Nunn) Reardon. While raising what Betty would call the four "most beautiful children" she decided to return to school to study Funeral Services Education at NSCC Kingstec Campus, Kentville, graduating in the class of 1992. In turn Betty became a Pathology Assistant at the Valley Regional Hospital, a career which she was passionate about, ensuring the respect and dignity of those who passed before her. Betty also loved picking high bush blueberries in the valley while her family members complained of frozen fingers; the fruits of her labours will be sorely missed. She is survived by her father; as well as her husband, Russell Smith; children, Matthew Smith (Lise Charbonneau), Judy (Alex) Dunlop, Carolyn "Keno" Smith (Glen Abernethy), and Brent Smith (Karuna Singh); known as "Grandma Betts" to her grandchildren, AJ, Charlie, and Brock Dunlop; Sadie and Sam Smith; siblings, Joanne Weber, Basil Reardon, Nancy Reardon, Gregory Reardon, and Elaine Coyle. She was predeceased by her mother; and by her brother, Daniel Reardon. While Betty had a dynamic personality and a life filled with many friends, she was also a very private person, and as such, there will be a private service.
