Elizabeth "Ruth" Morse

MORSE, Elizabeth Ruth, of Halifax passed away May 6, 2026, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, NS where she resided comfortably for the last 5 years.

Ruth (or Elizabeth, in her final years) grew up in Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., NS. She was the first child of Dr. Frank Morse and Sheila (Winfield) Morse. Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (1964) from Acadia University and a Bachelor of Education degree (1966) from Dalhousie University. She spent most of her career teaching Grade 5 at Grosvenor-Wentworth Park Elementary School in the Birch Cove area of Halifax.

Elizabeth always loved to travel throughout the world. She lived and worked in Europe from 1967 to 1969. She enjoyed visiting Southeast Asia and visited China on multiple trips. Elizabeth enjoyed various craft hobbies and was up for most anything including re-finishing furniture, re-caning chair seats, some macrame. She was very talented with her sewing machine and made dresses, blouses, and coats for herself. Elizabeth was, as well, a beautiful quilter and knitter. She did some painting, mostly still life scenes in water colour. Elizabeth’s hobbies also included cooking, baking, and she always enjoyed a good meal. Elizabeth enjoyed her cars. Her pale yellow 1967 Ford Mustang and caramel coloured 1975 MGB convertible were two of her most favourite cars. She was also partial to Hondas. She enjoyed the company of her cats. There was usually one or more nearby. Each one received the best of care. Some of the cats were Siamese, Persian, Himalayan, Burmese, regular short hairs, and so on. Elizabeth lived a full life, full of experiences, many friends and enjoyed regular visits to family.

She is survived by her brothers Peter (Claudia Resch MD) Morse MD, Ventnor City, NJ and Donald Morse, Lawrencetown, NS and stepbrothers Allan (Sandra) MacLean, Gander, NL and Douglas (Heather) MacLean, Waterville, NS and sister-in-law Sharon (David, MD) Morse, Lunenburg, NS.
