FRANKS, Ella Georgina – Age 73, of Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., N.S., passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on March 21, 1950, in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Olive M. Malcolm. Ella was employed at the Metroland Newspaper in Ontario for many years, retiring as a District Rep., and before that at the Toronto Star. She always enjoyed working with youth, along with supervising newspaper carriers, she also worked as a crossing guard at a local school. Ella and her husband later moved home to the Annapolis Valley, where she was a long-time member of the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church. Ella enjoyed making porcelain dolls, and taught classes on doll making, eventually making it a business. She and her husband enjoyed travelling. Ella will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles E. Franks; daughter, Michelle (Darrin) Lee, Bowmanville, Ont.; son, William (Coral) Franks, Toronto, Ont.; grandsons, Ian and Collin Lee; and several nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by stepsisters, Vera Veinot, and Thelma Ward-Grant; stepbrothers, Leslie, Elvert, Edgar "Eddie" and Walter Hines. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service for Ella will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, in Lawrencetown United Baptist Church, 430 Main Street, Lawrencetown, Pastor Andrew Taylor officiating, with a reception to follow at the church.
