WARREN, Ellen M. - age 95 of Bridgetown, Annapolis Co., passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015, in the Veterans Unit at the Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Annie L. (Whitewood) Warren. Ellen graduated as Registered Nurse from the Glace Bay General Hospital. She was a veteran of the Second World War, serving her country as a nurse overseas. Ellen had several postings after the war in the Yukon, other parts of Canada and in Germany. She retired with the rank of Major and in retirement had instructed the C.N.A. program at the Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Ellen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are nieces, Anne (Bob) Wrightson, Orilla, Ont.; Elizabeth (Arthur) Knowlton, Centreville; Faye (James) Height, Paradise; Nancy (Andrew) McGrath, Loretta (James) Inglis, Lindsay (Hugh) Wood, all of Bridgetown; nephews, Barrie (Wendy) Bent, Truro; David Bent, Paradise; David Warren, Hamilton, Ont.; Richard (Diane) Warren, Glace Bay; Jimmy Warren, Kitchener, Ontario; numerous great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by sister, Annie (Owen) Bent; brothers, Edward (Violet) and Ernest (Nancy) Warren. In keeping with Ellen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay. Donations in her memory may be made to Veterans Unit of the Soldier's Memorial Hospital, any branch of the Royal Canadian Legion or to a charity of one's choice.
