SPINNEY, Ellis Parker-83 of, Greenwood Square. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ellis Spinney, announce his passing at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton on September 5, 2010. He was born in Greenwood Square, the eldest son of the late Howe and Bessie (Parker) Spinney. Ellis worked at a variety of construction firms and retired in 1992 as a DCL Inspector for Defence Construction at CFB Greenwood. For a number of years he was the Deacon of the Greenwood Square Meeting House. His hobbies were hunting, farming, 4-wheel driving and tinkering with his car. He was a kind and loving husband and father who was famous for taking his family on long and winding country drives. One of his major joys in life was having all the family gathered around the dinner table. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Irene (Herget) of Forties; daughters, Janice (Peter Foy) Spinney, Greenwood; Glenna (Mike) Westervelt, Grand Prairie, AB; Wynne (Tim Crowe) Craig, Kingston, NS; son, Alan (Diana) Spinney, Nictaux; sister, Mary Norman, Bridgewater; sister-in-law, Jackie Spinney; nephew, Tom and family; grandchildren, Sarah Beth Keddy, Matthew Spinney, Tyler Craig, Brett and Bryce Westervelt; great grandchildren, Abigail and Braden Keddy-Sabean. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Clare. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2:00 to 4:00PM and 7:00 to 9:00PM, Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, where the Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, September 9, 2010, Father Michael McKeage officiating. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only, donations in memory may be made to the Charity of Choice.
