With heavy hearts we the family announce the passing of Elroy Andrew Wood, age 78 of Inglisville, Annapolis Co., N.S. He will be terribly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, the former Linda C.M. MacInnis; and his two children, Tammy Wood (Derrick Chase) and Trevor (Tasha); also, his three grandchildren, Tyler Medicraft, Brett Medicraft and Shelby Wood (Devon).
Elroy enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his real passion was music, and he learned to play guitar at an early age. He played in several bands and groups over the years, Country and Country Rock in the early days but found his niche in Bluegrass music. He joined the Bridgewater Bluegrass and Old Time Music Club. He spent summers camping with his wife playing and singing the music he loved.
It was through music that he met many wonderful people and friends but none dearer than Ray and Lorraine Spencer and their children John and Trina. Also close to his heart was his nephew Richard Taylor who was more like a brother and best friend. Elroy worked most of his life at the Department of Transportation in Middleton as a heavy equipment operator.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Otis and Violet (Best) Wood; and three sisters, Rena (Roland Sarty) and twins, Vera (Donald Taylor) and Vivian Gaul.
Many thanks to Doctors and Nurses at the Valley Regional Hospital and Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for their kindness and excellent care they gave him. A private graveside service will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, on a future date.
Donations may be made in his memory to Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation, Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, Inglisville Community Hall or to a charity of choice.
