Elsie Horsman, 88, of Greenwood, NS, passed away December 17, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and dementia.

Born March 9, 1936 in Calhoun NB, Elsie was the youngest daughter of Everett and Daisy (Price) Atkinson, and stepmother Dorothy (Price) Atkinson.  She grew up in Moncton NB, graduated from Moncton High School in 1950, and married her high school sweetheart Willard, on July 2nd, 1955.

Elsie was predeceased by her brothers Ronald and Raymond Atkinson.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 69 years, Willard "Bill"; sister Geraldine Milton; sons Allan (Michele), Gregory (Catherine), Curtis (Robert); grandchildren Patrick (Danielle), Devin, Daniel, Martha (Andrew) and great-grandchild Molly.

Elsie and Bill moved with his work in the Navy, settling for many years in Spryfield, Halifax where the boys were raised, and upon retirement they headed to the Valley. Elsie loved to quilt and work on puzzles.  She loved to keep a clean house despite the activities of three boys and she loved her service to the church.

The family is thankful to Dr. Surette, Janet Welton of the Valley Palliative Care Team, as well as caregivers (Ronda and Dana) who provided necessary support to allow her to remain in her home.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024 in Trinity Pentecostal Church, 468 Central Avenue, Greenwood. Rev. Mitchell Lewis officiating. A reception will follow the service.
