Obituary

ACKER, Elthan St. Clair-89 of Kingston passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Perley and Effie (Freeman) Acker. Elthan served in the Canadian Army as a Bren gun carrier driver during the Second World War. He is was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #98 Kingston. Elthan retired as a Branch Manager with Irving Oil, Kingston. He is survived by daughters, Joy Banks (Bruce Wood), Centreville; Rae Acker (Gayle Baltzer), Kingston; Kit (Doug)Spencer , Elmsdale and Ann (Bob) DePaolo, Hooksett, NH, USA; foster daughter, Donna Marie Schofield, Kingston and foster son, "Alfred" LeRoy (Sylvia) Sproule, Kingston; brother, Aubrey (Madeline) Acker, Texas and Maine; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Florence; sisters, Ethel, Noreen, Doris and brother, Ronald. By request there will be no visitation, however, friends and family are invited to stop by Elthan's home to offer condolences. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute conducted by Branch #98 Kingston, followed by the funeral service will be held 5:00PM, Sunday, July 28, 2013 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating, Interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
