DUKESHIRE, Elwood David "Pine" ~ Age 73, of Bridgetown, Annapolis Co., passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at home. Born on November 20, 1950, in Bear River East, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Kathleen M. "Bonnie" (Durling) Dukeshire. In his early years, Elwood worked for several years as a butcher and later worked at Bridgetown Regional High School, retiring after 32 years. He was an outdoorsman of all aspects, with most of all enjoyed living at Medicraft Lake, Elwood was happiest teasing and tormenting anyone and everyone, always lending a hand to any in the community. He was a deacon at West Dalhousie Baptist Church for several years. In 1976, Elwood was one of the founding members of Annapolis County Ground Search & Rescue, where he served for 38 years, holding multiple positions and titles including Vice President and President. He had been a director of Nova Scotia Ground Search & Rescue and participated in the Project Life Saver Program. Elwood loved his cats and dogs and enjoyed many camping trips to Keji with his family and friends. He also travelled to many destinations including New Brunswick, Maine, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Alberta and Alaska. Elwood was the best husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Surviving are loving wife of 25 years the former Phyllis A. Spinney-Coleman; children, Nerissa (Cory) Smith, Berwick; Philip (Jennifer) Dukeshire, Middleton; Alan Coleman, Bridgetown; Josh (Laura) Coleman, Torbrook; grandchildren, Alexandra, Ryan, Mary, Owen, Graydon, Liam, Sean, Matthew, Kaylyn and Caleigh; great grandchildren, Harrison and Bentley; twin sisters, Harriet (the late Kenny) Hannam, of Bridgetown; Hilda (the late Sandy) Archibald, of Annapolis Royal; a niece, Tammy Hannam and several nephews and other nieces. A memorial service, followed by a reception will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Kent Greer officiating, with interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Durlings Lake, West Dalhousie. Donations in memory may be made to Annapolis County Ground Search and Rescue.
