HATT, Ernest Nelson - 76 of Nictaux passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Meadowvale, he was a son of the late James and Eliza (Allen) Hatt. Ernest retired as a mechanic after 35 years with Thompson's Transfer Ltd. He loved sports, in particular hockey and baseball as well as hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and enjoyed driving and working on stock cars at the Meadowvale race track. In the summer months, many weekends were spent camping and hiking with his family. Surviving besides his wife the former Muriel Bezanson are daughters Eliza Newton, Mashpee, Mass., USA and Lois Hatt (Chris Hudson), Victoria Beach, NS; son Ernest "Nelson" (Joyce) Hatt, Bloomington; sister Joyce Lightfoot, Kingston, NS; grandchildren Sarah Newton. Masspee, Mass., USA and Bronson Sarty, Bridgetown, NS. He was predeceased by sisters Gertrude, Marjorie and Beatrice; brothers Allen and Gordon. By request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.
