Obituary

Errol Todd Korhonen ~ aged 57, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 1 st , 2022, in Halifax Infirmary, QE II, Halifax. Born in East York, Ontario, he was the son of the late Tauno and Angeline (Evans) Korhonen. He was recently retired from RCAF after 27 years of service.

Errol was an excitable man who enjoyed challenges, projects and did not like to sit idle. In his short life he built a construction company, enjoyed an adventurous career in the RCAF as an Avionics Technician, and successfully owned and operated various entrepreneurial ventures. He was passionate about technology and those around him know that he was always surrounded by the latest gadgets. He loved aviation and was always keen to attend an airshow or talk about the latest developments. Errol was a very generous man, he so loved to give gifts and if he could make it a surprise, even better.

Errol was always eager to help those who needed it. His family and friends know too well that you could call him in the middle of the night, and he would drive hours, weather notwithstanding, to come back you up. His peers could depend on him for guidance and support, and he was an approachable mentor, which served him well during his instructional years in the RCAF. His friends will remember an avid merrymaker who shared many days and nights of laughter with them over the years, between volksmarches in Germany, glacier tubing, white water rafting, backyard campfires, or spontaneous trips.

Errol loved adventure – he was at home in nature and enjoyed road trips and bringing his family on expeditions into the woods on ATVs, trucks, or walking to campsites to teach his kids about survival and woodcraft. Errol and Christine spent a great deal of time travelling to see birds and wildlife around Nova Scotia. His granddaughters will remember many trips to the playground with Papa. Errol's recent years were challenged by deteriorating health but were fulfilled by being surrounded by his supportive wife and growing extended family.

Left to grieve are Errol's wife of 39 years, Christine; son, Patrick (Julia); daughter, Meagan; granddaughters, Clementine and Prudence; brothers, Bob and Carey (Elizabeth); sister, Faith (Giles); many nieces, nephews and cousins and his best friend and faithful companion, Milo.

Errol was predeceased by his father, Tauno; mother, Angeline, his beloved sister, Dayle; son-in-law, Cody Trimper.
