Banks, Esther Irene – Age 87 of Spa Springs, Annapolis Co., passed away, Friday June 24, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born in Victoria Vale, December 22, 1934, she was a daughter of the late John and Grace (Healy) Crawford. In her early years she played on the Middleton basketball team, was secretary at McKenzie's Creamery and worked some in Ontario. Esther married the late Rodney Banks in November 1959 where they started farming in Granville, later moving to Spa Springs in 1961, where they had a successful dairy farm. Esther loved spending time in her garden or in the kitchen cooking meals for any celebration or occasion. Watching her children & grandchildren at the rink brought her so much joy. She was an avid 4-H leader for many years and a long-standing member of the Melvern Square United Baptist Church. Esther is survived by her brothers, Stuart Crawford and Lloyd (Carolyn) Crawford; sons, David (Elaine), Melvern Square, Robert (Angela), Spa Springs, Gordon (Tracy Coulter), Spa Springs, Peter (Cheyenna), South Farmington; daughters, Kathryn Banks, North Vancouver, Jan (Arnar) Magnusson, Spa Springs; grandchildren, Ashley, Alexandra, Rachael, Kayla, Katrine, Laara, Paige and Jonah. She was predeceased by her wonderful husband, Rodney Banks; brothers, Harold and Carl; sisters, Evelyn, Betty and Linda. Cremation has taken place. A service and interment will take place at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Port George. A special thank you to Dr. Kevin McGuire, Continuing Care, VON, Palliative Care doctors and nurses and to Erika Maynard of MAID for enabling mom to pass away with dignity and peace.
