Esther Phyllis
Jones
February 25, 1969 – August 31, 2024
Esther Phyllis Jones, known affectionately as "Esthie" to her family and friends, passed away on August 31, 2024, at the age of 55 in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. Born on February 25, 1969, in Middleton, NS, Esthie was a beacon of love and kindness, touching the lives of many with her spirit.
Esthie's greatest joy came in the opportunity to fulfill her lifelong dream of higher education, pursuing her passion for music at Eastern Connecticut State University, where in 2021 she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, graduating summa cum laude. Teaching music became her avenue of sharing her passion with her students. She looked for any opportunity to use her talents in her work and community. Esthie's love for music was only paralleled by her dedication to her community, particularly evident in her active involvement at Charity Baptist Church in Meadowvale.
Esthie is survived by an extensive and loving family, including 14 siblings: Sharon Ford, Richard Jones (Carol), Paul Jones (Sharon), Carlyn McFarland (Stephen), William "Bill" Jones (Tanya), Warren Jones (Lauri), Judith Uhlman (Leon), Mary Harvey, Evelyn Margery Parker (Bryce), Robert Jones (Leanne), Katherine Dobson (Andrew), Donald Jones (Lydia), Michelle Noseworthy, and Thurston Jones (Heidi), along with 40 nieces and 25 nephews and multiple grand nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents Evelyn "Margery" (nee Ray) and Richard Galen Jones, and her niece Carlyn "Suzie" McFarland.
Two memorial services were held on October 13th and 14th, 2024 to honour Esthie's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her church (Charity Baptist in Meadowvale), to an animal rescue organization, or another charity of choice, honouring Esthie's lifelong compassion for animals and her giving nature.
Celebration of Life service was held 11:00AM Monday, October 14th, 2024
