MCGINNIS, Esther Burkette- 89 of Tremont passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late Owen and Lillian (Uhlman) Newcombe. Esther was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and had great compassion for people. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and nature in general, and was known as the Fudge Queen. Esther also enjoyed old time country music and going for drives when she was able. She is survived by daughters, Heather McGinnis, Whitehorse, Yukon; Pamela (Neil) McGinnis-Morton, Tremont, grandchildren, Sean, Kailan, Brennan and Nicholas. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ross, an infant son, James Lorimer; sisters, Dorothy, Bertha, Sophie, Margaret, Marie and Doris; brothers, Lloyd, Harry, Byron and Glendon in infancy. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9PM Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. A private family graveside service will be held in the Torbrook Mines United Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Charity of Choice.
