Obituary

PARKER, Ethelyn Heneretta Mae-84 of Kentville, formerly of Lawrencetown, NS passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in East Inglisville, she was a daughter of the late George Avard and Ethel Mildred (Whitman) Leonard. Ethelyn taught school for two years in Bloomington; she was a receptionist in Dr. F.W. Morse's office for 10 years; worked as a practical nurse at Soldiers Memorial Hospital for 10 years and as an office clerk and practical nurse at the Bridgetown Medical Group for 6 years. She lead a very active life in her community, she was a Charter Member of Valley Rose Rebekah Lodge having received her 60 year jewel; Past Noble Grand, Past District Deputy, Past President of District No. 3, Past President Lawrencetown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Past President Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 Lawrencetown Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church Auxiliary, Co-President New Horizons Senior Citizens and spent 12 years with Girl Guides of Canada serving as a Guide and Pathfinder leader, Division Commissioner and Division Camp advisor. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Parker Beals, Centreville and Barbara (Mike) Dondale, North Range; grandchildren, Shauna Beals, Centreville; Matthew (Tanya) Dondale, Smith's Cove and great grandson, Taylor; Jeffrey (Rachel) Dondale, Barton and great granddaughter, Haylee and great grandson, Lamert and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lamert Parker, sister, Irma Gillis and brothers, Stewart Leonard and Raybourne Leonard. By Ethelyn's request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church with Pastor Patty Beals officiating, beginning with a Rebekah Lodge service. Reception for family and friends will follow the service. Private family interment will be in Nictaux Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia, Victorian Order of Nurses Palliative Care or a Charity of Your Choice. A special thanks to the Staff at Orchard Court, VON Palliative Care Team, VON Nursing and Nancy Chipman, palliative care volunteer.
