Ethelyn Gene Mosher

Mosher, Ethelyn Gene – 100, of Nictaux, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Rockville Notch, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Rossie (Spinney) McMaster.

Ethelyn graduated from the Kingston Bible College Academy as valedictorian and graduated from Horton Business College at Acadia University. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies, including Canadian Atlantic Salt Fish Exporters Association, Halifax; Salvation Army Grace Hospital, Ottawa; and Andrews Department Store, Middleton. Her second career was journalism; she worked as a journalist and photographer for the Middleton Mirror, journalist and editor for the Middleton Examiner, co-owner and publisher of the Valley Examiner, columnist for the Annapolis Spectator, and reporter for CBC information morning for 15 years. Ethelyn was a travel agent with Fraser and Hoyt Travel for many years, arranging trips and travelling to many places. She was very active in her community and her church; she was a member of the Middleton Baptist Church, and a choir member for over 70 years in Harmony, Halifax, Ottawa, and Middleton. Ethelyn was a Sunday school teacher in Ottawa and Middleton and was a director of Vacation Bible School for 11 years. She volunteered many hours with the North Street Chapel community. She served on several Boards including Victorian Order of Nurses, Valley Care Line, and the Annapolis Valley Historical Society. Ethelyn and her husband, George were founding members of the Twin Oaks Ski Club, and she spent many hours on the slopes there as well as at Martock and Ski Wentworth. She was an athlete, alpine and water skiing, and even in her later years as a member of the Middleton Curling Club, Paragon Golf and Country Club, and Above Par Golf Course, and she enjoyed skating until the age of 78. Her most treasured times were spent with family at the cottage on Zwicker’s Lake. Ethelyn taught Shore Side Sunday School on the beach to many over the years. In 1964, Ethelyn was recognized as Mrs Chatelaine for all her involvement in the church and community. A well-deserved accomplishment. Ethelyn was an accomplished rug hooker and she truly enjoyed her time spent with the CORAH program in recent years.

Surviving are her daughters, Judy (Ken) Maher, Round Hill; Connie (Tim) d’Entremont, Rockville Notch; Georg-Ann (Gordon) Delaney, Kentville; her son, Peter Mosher (Gina Gallagher), Coldbrook; grandchildren, Isaac d’Entremont, Fort McMurray, AB; Caleb (Katherine) d’Entremont, Grand Bay Westfield, NB; Zachary d’Entremont, Aylesford; Romney (Scott) Bell, Lower Sackville; Evan (Samantha Burke) Delaney, Port Williams; Lucas Maher (Jillian Martin), Cold Stream, BC; Ana Maher (Cody McCormack), Calgary, AB; William (Logan) Mosher, Cambridge; Stuart Mosher (Cheyenne Grant), Kentville; great grandchildren, Felix and Quinn d’Entremont; Blake, Carter, and Maddie Bell; Pheida and Norah Delaney; Isla and Astoria Maher; Ozzie, Noomi, and Kaiya McCormack; and Emilia Mosher.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George; sisters Marie Cameron, Sylvia MacLachlan, and adopted sister, Vivian Banks.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 in Middleton Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Danny Smith officiating. A reception in the Family Life Centre will follow the service. Interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Middleton Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
