GATES, Evelyn Elizabeth - age 90 of Middleton, formerly of New Albany, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 6, 2015 in the Heart of the Valley Care Centre, Middleton, surrounded by her family. Born in Bridgetown, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Bernice (Fox) Bezanson.  Evelyn devoted her life to her family and especially loved spending time and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was also a loving mother to many foster children.  In her younger years, she was an excellent marksman, particularly when it came to small game.  On occasion, she was employed at Brocklin Toys.  Evelyn was a member of the New Albany Church.  She loved her flower gardens, excursions with Rose Barnett and attending trade shows with Susan Gough and will be missed by all who knew her. Evelyn is survived by sons, Wayne (Kathy) Gates,  Oromocto, NB; Gary (Carolyn Ann) Gates, Nictaux; Brian Gates, New Albany; Tony (Debbie) Gates, New Albany and Larry (Shelly) Gates, Middleton; grandchildren, Rodney, Timmy, Julie Ann, Chris, Melody, Wayne Jr., Terri, Shannon, Kathy Michelle, Lisa, Tracy, Scott, Gavin, Ryan, Hayley and numerous loving great and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Rhoda, Ontario; Marion, New Brunswick; Grace, Ontario; Joan, Quebec; Carolyn, Lawrencetown and Isabell, Bridgetown and brothers, Frank, Ontario, Gordie, Inglisville and Carl, Halifax and numerous nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Adelbert, daughter, Bette (Arnold) Vidito; sisters, Dorothy and Eileen; brothers, Lemoine, Gordon, Bobby and Douglas in infancy.  In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Dr. Bill MacDougall officiating, assisted by Rev. Donald C. MacPherson.  A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Albany.
