It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Evelyn F. Ross of Kingston, NS at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 20th. Born at Upper Clements, Annapolis County on January 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frederick C. Potter and Florence Mae (Orde) Potter. Evelyn was known as a staunch supporter of the Kingston United Church and a soft touch for any animal that crossed her path. The neighbourhood stray cats would always find a generous handout at her door! She will also be remembered as a friendly face at Guy's Frenchys, Wilmot, MTC Aldershot Canex (in the summer of 1985), and for her baking in support of Kingston Community Events such as the Kingston Steer Barbeque. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Treasure A. (Philip) Stairs, grand-daughter Cheryl (Ron) Mozel all of Beausejour MB; son Ira R. Taylor of Dartmouth NS, grand-daughter Melanie (Kevin)Taylor of West Dalhousie NS, great-grand-daughter Jessica(Graham)Smith and great-great-grand-daughter Bella, of Bridgewater; son David C. Ross of Kingston NS; sister Phyllis (Jack) Morehouse of Berwick NS, stepdaughter Marilyn Archibald of Aylesford NS, and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husbands, Vernon E. Taylor (1959) and Charles V. Ross (1997); her son Gordon D. Ross (2014), her grandson Philip V.T. Stairs (2001); brother Clyde A. Potter (2009), and sister Doris G. Harry (2012). Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26th in the Kingston United Church, Rev. Michael Mugford officiating. Interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.
