Nixon, Everett Austin – 83, of Wilmot, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Margaretsville, he was a son of the late Austin and Marguerite (Hudgins) Nixon. As an Air Traffic Controller with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces, Everett worked for 35 years and never took a day off sick. The family’s postings included Comox, Chatham, Oromocto, Shearwater, and Greenwood. He was a man with a great sense of humor and in his younger years, enjoyed walking, bowling, and curling in Middleton. Dinner at Angie’s or a trip to the Greenwood Mall for coffee were always special times for Peggy and Everett. He was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Middleton. Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Sweeney); daughters, Kelly Barry (Wayne), Foxley River, PEI; Stephanie Nixon-Cole, Dartmouth; son, Shayne Nixon, Aylesford; grandchildren, Marcie Nixon (Darren), Beaverbank; Cam Nixon (Sydney), Lower Sackville; Jay Barry (Rebecca), Foxley River, PEI; great grandchildren, Charley, Archer, Meadow, and Gibson; sister, Winnie Lightfoot, PEI. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Rob Cole and granddaughter, Caitlen Barry. There will be a private family graveside service in St. Monica’s Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in Everett’s memory may be made to the Twelve Baskets Food Bank. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448.
