DOUGLAS, F. Eleanor - 93 of Annapolis Royal passed away peacefully Monday, July 8, 2013 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Eleanor was born in Annapolis Royal, a daughter of the late Grover and Marion (Banks) Douglas and lived in that community her entire life. She attended Annapolis Royal Academy and received her degree in Home Economics from Acadia University. She taught school for over thirty years in Digby and Annapolis Royal. Eleanor was an active member of the First United Baptist Church, Annapolis Royal serving as deacon, treasurer and many other committees in the church. A memorial stain glass window was dedicated to Eleanor for her faithful service over the years. Recently Eleanor was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal and a valuable member of the Ladies Guild. Eleanor was an active member and supporter and very proud of the Town of Annapolis Royal. As a lifelong resident of Annapolis Royal, she was involved with the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens, member of the Hospital Auxiliary and the King's Theatre as well as several other organizations. Eleanor was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by her sister Margaret and also her life-long companion, Elizabeth Bent. By Eleanor's request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service, followed by a reception will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Canon Ken Vaughan and Most Rev. A.G. Peters officiating. Private interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Annapolis Community Health Centre, King's Theatre or the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens.
