Obituary

BALCOM, Frances Irene – age 87 of Windsor, NS passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 in Hants Community Hospital Windsor. Born in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gladys (Daniels) Balcom. Frances was a retired maternity nurse having been employed at Colchester Community Hospital and the old Halifax Infirmary. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved to travel; including trips to Scotland and England. She also enjoyed taking bus trips and made many friends during all her travels. She also travelled to Europe in 2005 to attend the 60Th Anniversary of VE Day. Frances was a long time member of the West End Baptist Church in Halifax. She also attended a Seniors Meet & Greet Group in Halifax and maintained many friendships from that group. Frances will be sadly missed by her sister Marilyn Melanson, Cambridge, NS; nieces Janet, Brenda, Anne Marie and Gail; nephews Allan, Kerry, Michael, Kim and Greg. Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by brothers; Lorris, Gordon and Ron and her niece Lynn. In keeping with Frances wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM, Saturday April 22, 2017 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 with Rev. Barbara Bishop officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
