Frank Wilson
Hogg
May 7, 1940 – November 23, 2023
HOGG, Frank Wilson ~ Age 83, Wilmot, passed away peacefully, with family by his side on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Born on May 7, 1940, in Barrington, he was a son of the late J. Stuart and Minna M. (Blakeney) Hogg. Frank was a man who loved his family, the bigger the gathering the better. He loved putting on a big meal and was well known for his turkey and dressing, plus a connoisseur at the BBQ. Back in the day it would be nothing to throw the wife and kids (and snacks) in the car for a Sunday drive, which later evolved into camping on the weekends. Tenting was fun until we got flooded out, trenches dug…next year he bought a family camper. Life with dad was an adventure! Frank was well known and respected in the community. He was a long-time member of Middleton & District Lions Club. For his livelihood he was a truck driver, starting with a snowplow (at age 16), then a garbage truck, Thompson's, Gulf Oil, Sears, Chronicle Herald. Eventually he and his wife developed Hogg's Trucking, which was operated for 22 years, beginning with one employee to a staff of 63. Surviving are daughters, Carol Layton, Wilmot; Sharon Shirley, Middleton; Janet (Steven) Loomer, Aylesford; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (Kim) Crook, Thomasville; brothers, Raymond Hogg, Yarmouth; Butch (Jennie) Hogg; John (Cindy) Hogg, both of Barrington; Lloyd (Carol) Hogg, Saskatchewan; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of over 62 years, the former Brenda D. Watt; daughter, Susan Hare; sons-in-law, Thomas Layton and Wayne Shirley; sister, Joan O'Connell. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 30, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating.
