CONNELL, Freda Elsie ~ Age 98, of Weston, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born on November 8, 1925, in Princedale, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Robert D. and Gladys A.A. (Wright) Freeman. Freda had been employed at Mid Valley Motel, Middleton and at the Cafeteria at Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick. She was an adherent of Berwick Baptist Church, where she was active in the Weston-Welsford-Somerset Auxiliary. Freda was a former member of the Weston Women's Institute. She was devoted to her family, friends and community. Freda will always be remembered for her smile and infectious laugh and will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving are daughter, Joyce (Bob Welsh) Findlay, Port Alberni, B.C.; sons, Randall Connell, Qualicum Beach, B.C.; Ronald (Marlene) Connell, Weston; grandchildren, Rhonda, Melissa, Heather (Andrew), Gregory, Jeff (Michelle), Tracy, Kristopher (Janine), and Stephanie (Chad); great grandchildren, Blake, Vera, Jason (Jennifer), Ashley (Jared), Nikolas, Natasha, Ryan, Evan, Weston, and Asher; great great grandson, Lincoln; sister, Melzena (the late Bill) Fish, Annapolis; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Lealand T. Connell; son, Lawrence Connell; son-in-law, Perley Findlay; sister, Margaret (Ronald) Berry. A private family graveside service took place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, in Nictaux Cemetery, with Rev. Andrew Conrad officiating. The family then received visitors at a reception in celebration of her life from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., in the Berwick Baptist Church - Chipman Annex, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Immediate family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses – Annapolis Valley Branch.
