Obituary

FISHER, Frederick Albert-With heavy hearts but gratitude for a life- long lived we share that at age 95, Fred Fisher of Kingston NS passed away March 9, 2016 at Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS. Born on December 15, 1920, he was the son of Edwin and Ida Fisher of Somerset, Kings Co. Fred was affectionately known as Dad, Papa, Pup and Freddie-boy. He is survived by daughter, Cynthia Keddy, Hamilton ON; son, Brian (Ankie) Fisher, Milford; four grandchildren, Brad, Jackie, Shane and Kelli; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Jean. Fred served as a member of the 13 th Canadian Field Regiment, RCA during the Second World War. After the war, he drove a truck for Valley Creamery and then worked 25 years with DND Greenwood retiring in 1985. Fred was an avid gardener growing fruits and vegetables for many to enjoy. His children and grandchildren will miss the numerous afternoon road trips over the mountain and his stories from "years ago". Fred was a member of Kingston United Church and had 70 years of continuous service with the Royal Canadian Legion, lastly with Branch #98 Kingston. Fred was predeceased by his wife, Kay; brothers, Frank, Bill, Bob and George and sisters, Nellie, Isabelle and Marge. At Fred's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Visitation will be held 2:00PM to 4:00PM, Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448.
